Itinerary

Bukit lawang Tour 5 Days Family Vacation

Day One

Pick-up from Medan Kuala Namu airport or Medan hotel and travel by private transport (air-con) directly to Bukit Lawang (3-4 hours). You will have time to explore the village, visit the bat cave (depending on your arrival time) or relax in the accommodation/hotel for remainder of the day/evening.

 

 

Days Two (6 to 7 hours - One day Jungle Trekking)

After breakfast around 09:00 am, Our guide will pick up you at 8.30am from guesthouse/Hotel in Bukit Lawang and you will start your journey into the jungle of Gunung Leuser National Park to see wild orangutans. On your trek (6-7 hours), your guide will educate you on the local wildlife, flora and fauna you may encounter in Gunung Leuser. After lunch, you will continue your trek to see other wildlife (if you’re lucky you may see the Thomas’ leaf monkey, white-handed gibbon, black gibbon, long-tailed macaque, pig-tailed macaque, hornbills, peacocks and monitor lizards) and learn about the trees/plants which can be used in traditional medicine.

 

Late afternoon-on arrival at camp, you are free to enjoy the fresh water of the Bohorok river, swim and relax. Later on, you will leave the campsite by traditional rafting boat (‘jungle style’) following the river downstream to the village Bukit Lawang.

 

 

Days Three (day Elephan tour)

At around 9am, your guide will pick you up from your guesthouse/hotel in Bukit Lawang and you will start your journey to Tangkahan by aircon jeep (2 hours) along the way you will see the villages and palm oil plantations view. On arrival, after registering with the park office, you will start your elephant trek through the jungle (2 hours), where your guide will explain how Tangkahan became a protected area for elephants, as well as showing you the local flora, fauna and wildlife.

 

 After your trek, you will have the opportunity to wash and feed the elephants, before eating lunch at a traditional restaurant overlooking the river.

 

Afternoon – a short walk from the restaurant and a swim across the river leads you to a natural hot spring, where you will have time to swim and relax,  before drive back to your guesthouse/hotel in Bukit Lawang.

 

 

 

Days Four (Village tour by Becak Tuk-Tuk or mountain bike)

After breakfast, our guide will pick you up at 8.30am from your guesthouse and hotel and you will start your journey to a local village. On your 3 hour trip, you will visit local rice fields and learn about the process of rice production, from the fields to the nearby rice refinery plant. You will also get the chance to visit a palm sugar plantation, find out how the sap is refined into brown sugar, and some of the traditional uses for palm sugar. Along the way, your guide will help you to pick fruit straight from the tree (depending on the season) for you to sample. Lunch will be at a local restaurant where you will have the opportunity to sample various Indonesian meals.

 

During the village tour, experience how the people live. Talk to them, hear their stories, play games with their children and discover their world.

 

 

Days Five

In the morning after breakfast (Defending of your flight departure) take tour to the bat cave afterward also can continue tour to the village to see rice field, how to made brown sugar, bamboo weaving and etc. After the tour back and lunch in Bukit Lawang, before begin travel to Medan hotel or to the airport.
